NewBlue Titler Pro updated

jetdv wrote on 10/25/2011, 1:05 PM
There's now an updated version of Titler Pro available. Just go to the same download page provided by Sony, download the new version (the file name will be the same), and install. You will need the serial number provided by Sony again during installation. This version includes several bug fixes.

Thanks for the heads up.
I like the speedy response to updating bug fixes.

How were you aware of the update? Just a file compare from another download? Nothing mentioned on the website.

Also, anyone have an idea when the extra newblue plugins will be available:
Vast Array of High-Quality NewBlueFX Effects and Filters

"Titler Pro comes with a set of rich styles, effects and filters for you to start creating stunning titles. Plus, editors can easily expand their library directly from Titler Pro with access to hundreds of additional premium GPU-accelerated NewBlueFX effects and filters available for a free trial (coming soon)."

Are they just referring to the inclusion of their other products into Title Pro?

Hi.

Activate button in NewBlue/ NewBlue Titler Pro for Windows/ Manage Activation still remains greyed out after entering the serial number. Am I doing something wrong?
I did activate in VP11.
It shows as a trial in VP10. Is that the reason?

Edward (jetdv), I wish NewBlue could include the version number in the installation file.

Joran, when you add Titler to the timeline, go to Help - About and you'll see the version/build number which will tell you the exact version you have installed. The new one is build 111024.

Gene, I'm aware of the update because I put it there - I work with NewBlue.

Boy, I'm struggling with this titler. I've downloaded today's version, and tried it on two different setups (both Win 7 64-bit, Vegas v11.0 32-bit Build 370 & 64-bit Build 371, one setup with GPU acceleration enabled and the other without). I've watched the video tutorial, etc, but little works for me.

For instance, I can adjust the generic text box (which appears when you start the titler) by dragging the points onscreen around it, I can even change the font from the pulldown menu, but none of the other buttons and menus work for me. One time I was able to click on the "Style" button and it displayed some options (none of which were clickable for me), but as I write this it's no longer available. Clicks don't work on: Library, Effects, Transitions, Styles, Font Size, Bold, Italics, Underline, Kerning, Add Paragraph, Add Shape, even the Question Mark help icon does nothing. Justify does work, however...

I've ordered from NewBlue before and been happy, but this is simply not working for me.

[edit] FWIW, I can manually change the numbers for kerning & leading, but the little up and down arrows don't work. I've submitted a ticket with NB

[edit] Tech support at NewBlue (Edward) solved my problem: it was caused by a small utility I was running (outside of Vegas) call Filebox eXtender. DIsabling the utility allowed the titler to load properly.

really don't understand....

a. why nb can't use version numbers

b. why, when i click 'check for updates' in about it tells me i have the latest version (111013)

c. the download has no indication of version number either

frankly this is pretty pathetic, even when the titler is terrific.

AND, there's no version number in the download 'properties' tab. this really is a sort of shot in the dark approach!

Do I have to uninstall the current version on my computer before I download and install the updated version? I'm assuming I don't have to but I thought I'd check first.
dxdy wrote on 10/25/2011, 5:02 PM
I downloaded the new version, installed it by double clicking the file, put in the serial number, and it is working just fine V11 64 bit. I did not need to uninstall first.

I have tried installing the update twice and it stops at ogremain.dll and I have to abort. Any way around this?

Edit:

After a restart it installed properly. Don't know what could have stopped it but its done.
Red Prince wrote on 10/25/2011, 7:55 PM
I have installed it, chose a region and added the titler to it with one of the preset styles (Sunrise). There is something wrong with it, as random flashes appear. You can see it in this unlisted YouTube video (just click through to YouTube and watch it in full screen 1080p, the flashes will become quite visible):

So the titler is not usable with Vegas Pro 11 Trial version??? They should make a trial for it that goes with the vegas trial. After all you aren't getting the full experience to see if you want to buy Vegas 11 or not!

Just tested this. Works for me. Could be my settings, or the fact that I'm only using the default 10 seconds where you're at over a minute. First 5 seconds show the project settings, next 5 seconds show the render settings.

That's great. Are you able to answer the other part of my post regarding the additional components?

Don't know about the "additional components". The Get More links in the titler just take you to the Newbluefx main page.

Yes, if using the default 10 sec it works great. The problem is when you select a longer region and apply the Titler to it.

I know that it does not solve the problems that diverG and RedPrince have - but here I just downloaded, installed, registered, watched the 12 minutes introduction video - and am now using the great new tittler.
Also in the 20-30 second durations (by pulling the blue bar below the tittler window) that I normally use.

Uninstalled Newblue via control panel.
Searched and deleted references to Newblue in file system
Registry.
HKLM->Software->Newblue Delete Entry
HKCU->Software->Newblue Delete Entry
Reinstalled latest NewBlue . It worked. Newblue straight in.

Maybe overkill but I had a sytem image taken before loading the newupdate.
So a good fall back position.

There are versions numbers. Go to Help - About and you will see the version and build numbers (the build number is what changes for minor updates)

b. why, when i click 'check for updates' in about it tells me i have the latest version (111013)
That's because the "Check For Updates" option was checking the wrong file in the initial release which is why I posted the announcement here. That option will properly work in this version (probably reads "file not found" right now as I don't have that file out there yet but will by the end of tomorrow)

c. the download has no indication of version number either
The download files have the major version number but do not have the build number included so, yes, both of the files have the same file name. There are some underlying reasons for this...

No, you can just install the newer version.

If you had gone into Task Manager - you would have found that Vegas was actually still running (even though you had shut it down). After your reboot, it was not running.

No, you cannot use it in the trial because you need the purchased serial number in order to install it. Once the full retail version is available, that version will work as a trial.
