No Audio In Timeline or Trimmer

Here's something that has happened to me too many times. I capture DV using SF Vidcap 2.0 I play it back in Vidcap, and the audio is present. I play the .avi in Windows media player, and the audio is present. I place that clip in the timeline in Vegas Video, and there is no audio. When I open the same .avi in the trimmer, same thing....no audio. Again, this does NOT happen every time I capture, but it does happen. I just ran a test on a 60 second capture and I don't have audio in Vegas, yet that file plays in Windows Media Player, and in Vidcap.

See my post from 10/1 for system specifics

Any ideas?
Thanks

One thing to try would be to do a search on your computer for a file named aviplug.dll. Once you locate this file rename it aviplug.bak and then reinstall Vegas. You may want to do this with the wavplug.dll as well. If neither of those suggestions works please post some info on your system as well as what verison of Vegas that you are currently using. It would also be a good idea to drop our Technical Support Department a line. support@sonicfoundry.com or via the web at http://www.sonicfoundry.com/support/supportmail.asp

Hello Dave,
I am having the same problem, only our VidCap 2.0h will not capture audio AT ALL throught the firewire. Running a dual P3 1Ghz, 512 ram, Vegas Video 2.0h, Vidcap 2.0h, capturing from a Canon XL1S through a standard, OHCI comliant capture board, and NO LUCK! We've downloaded the latest DirectX 8.0 files yesterday, and tried both of your suggestions in the previous post. PLEASE HELP!

Thank you.
