I want to speed up dance music (the entire tracks) for inclusion on a mix CD (I'm using MixMeister to do the actual mixing). Should I use time shift or pitch shift to do the speeding up? Pitch shift will treble shift the entire track which is a bit annoying but I'm worried about loss of quality/audible artifacts from time shifting. Which is the best option? And what are all those wacky time shift options all about? TIA Chris |

You'll want Process -> Time Stretch in order to not change the pitch, but you should stay between 75% and 125% of the original duration of the audio, otherwise, artifacts will start to pop in. The different modes are for different kinds of sounds. You may need to experiment to see which works best for your audio. You could also do a mix of pitch shift / time stretch, using both in moderation to minimize the artifacts or frequency changes. |
