Vegas 11 - Check out the new text generator

ProType Titler, RIP. The following was all done in the new Sony Text generator - in a familiar user interface. I also see there's a new Credit Roll - haven't had time to fiddle with it yet.

Can you post a screengrab of the generator itself, please?

Does Protype still exist? I'd assume it does for legacy purposes, at least.

Is the New FX software part of the installation package or a separate download?

Protype still exist:
New Features in Version 11.0
-Improved usability for the ProType Titler.

Collections are no longer under the preview window, they are now shown as a 4 square icon sitting bottom right of the text block properties.

Haven't checked all changes yet

Separate download:

It's worth the price of the upgrade just to get the NB Titler. I've spent hours fussing around with ProType and still have just marginal proficiency with it : (

don't understand - is the nb titler PART of the upgrade or another plug in to buy?

didn't see any mention of it over on sony website?

Ros wrote on 10/17/2011, 10:12 PM
Newblue titler is part of the upgrade

Just bought it:
Order Total: US$139.95 (you get a separate serial number for Newblue Tilter.

OH YES, OH YES.....

worth it for the nb titler alone!!!!!!!!!!

If you go here http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro and scroll down the the New Blue Titler you can click on a 12 minute tutorial explaining how it functions. It looks like a good well thought out piece of software.

Based on NewBlue's retail ($199) for the titler, it's worth the price of the upgrade (though for me, the GPU acceleration for previews was enough).

The NewBlue titler is easier to pick up than the ProType, and with a little finesse (re: less is more) has some REALLY nice features.

If I were a cranky old fart (you know who you are) I'd say these are features that should have been included in Vegas to begin with, but SCS is listening, and even better, they're delivering. So...nice.

Honestly, while it won't be true in all cases, I'm working on a project where the NewBlue Titler will supplant my need to use After Effects (thank God...one less file to deal with).

Oh Yes!

Looks very good. And they had the common sense to add panels as part of the text.
amendegw wrote on 10/18/2011, 4:02 AM
Whoops, I make a confusing post and then go to bed. My bad!

I was speaking of an entirely new integrated text generator that is not the NewBlue titler. The old text generator (marked as "legacy") and the ProType Titler are still there.

Certainly this is not as powerful as the NewBlue titler. Here's a screen print of the Sony Text Panel:

So now we have 3 titlers, plus the old text generator?
PeterWright wrote on 10/18/2011, 4:44 AM
I was just thinking the same thing Nick .... but I guess they have to retain the old models so older projects still work.
ushere wrote on 10/18/2011, 4:56 AM
well from my little bit of playing i think you could happily dump ptt and incorporate nb. this is the sort of titler i've wanted since using the on line version of inscriber some 15 years ago.

long time waiting.....
NickHope wrote on 10/18/2011, 5:12 AM
Has someone at SCS developed a titler fetish? As they are introducing their own new titler, and have improved PTT, the NB titler seems a bizarre giveaway. Maybe they could have saved themselves the effort with their own plugins.
NickHope wrote on 10/18/2011, 6:31 AM
Once it's installed, does the NB titler show up in previous versions of Vegas Pro, and/or standalone, or only in 11?
Ros wrote on 10/18/2011, 7:17 AM
NB Titler does show up in Vegas 10, only it has the Newbluefx watermark. Might need to be activated, I haven't tried to.

The NB Titler shows up in Vegas Pro 10 but there's a New Blue watermark inserted on the text display.

I spoke with Edward yesterday, but after reading this thread, I'm confused... again.

Those of you who have tried the NB Titler, did you buy it or are your using a trial version? If a trial, how did you get it?

TIA!

redpaw wrote on 10/18/2011, 9:15 AM
you download it from here:
www.newbluefx.com/so/sonytitlerpro

and when you purchase the vegas you're getting an email with the codes for sony vegas 11, dvd architect and for the NB titler

Ros wrote on 10/18/2011, 9:20 AM
I bought Vegas 11 and was sent a serial and link to NB Titler.

Don't know if there is a trial to NB Titler since I skipped all trial versions and went straight to install full unlocked versions.

Rob
Jay Gladwell wrote on 10/18/2011, 9:24 AM

So it does require a purchase.
