What am I doing wrong. THe synth is plugged in from midi leads via the joystick plug. (PC)

Hello,

Do you have the Sonic Foundry Midi Router installed? If you don't you can download it from the utility section at downloads SF. Then after installing that make sure you assign your midi prefs in options in Acid Sync tab.

See ya, Rockit

Not sure what good installing the VMR will do Rockit. What do you think the problem is and how will installing the VMR solve it?

From the original poster's problem, it appears that he is not getting any input from an external device connection.

What version of ACID are you using? Only ACID 3 Pro can communicate with external MIDI devices.

Are you trying to record MIDI or playback MIDI to your Kawai?

Have you enabled the desired port in the Preferences MIDI page in ACID?

What do you mean by "registering fine"? (sounddiver is Emagic's editor librarian I take it?)

What are you trying to do here? Are u trying to record "audio" into Acid? If so, then plug your synth's "output" to your soundcard's "input".

Please remember that you need ACID PRO 3.0 to recording MIDI input.

1. Go to your record dialog
2. Select MIDI at the top
3. At the bottom of the dialog lists the devices you can record from. Check for your joystick port. If it is there, select the port. If it is not, that's where your problem is.
4. Make sure Monitor is select and begin to play your device. (Don't worry about actually recording yet... we're just checking that your input is seen.)

If your joystick port shows and the signal is being displayed while you are monitoring you should be good to go as far as MIDI recording.

Hope that helps. If you are having problems w/ various steps please post back and let us know where things start to go wrong. (ie. your port is missing, etc.)

Happy mixing!
Jenn
