Subject:editing mp3's

I am running sf 5.0b with the mp3 plugin 2.0. I find that after I edit an mp3, and then save it to the same bit rate (usually 192kb stereo), it converts the mp3 to joint stereo. is there anyway to change this so it saves it as the same as the original? thanks.
