Mark (pathlight), there are users on here who have checked that box numerous times and are still not on the email list :(
This forum is the best place to check for information once it's released.
It's not "in the know." The knowledge base normally has this info once the new version is released, Sony also will reimburse people who didn't use the coupon code when they buy it direct from Sony.
I don't normally get the e-mails eigther, I just watch here. They keep it discounted for a month so, if I'm interested in the new version, I download the trial, run a real project through it & if I like it then I'll get it.

Last time when i upgraded from 9 to 10, i remember the website stated the upgrade price in dollars. Well, here in europe (uk) when you clicked this to pay, the same price was shown in GBP. $139 does not equal £139 !
Realising this conversion was wrong, i ended up ringing them directly in the states and used my card over the phone. I got the correct conversion AND a free set of Sony library sounds, which i use a lot, very good deal. My advice, ring them up, use skype! It was super quick and the gentleman on the phone was friendly and helpful.
and the longest; waiting for the test results*.....
*over 60 and whenever i feel 'not quite right' i go to the doc. (i'm a wuzz, ie no hero) who always runs some sorts of tests, and then goes on to tell me what horrible ailment i could be suffering from. i think it's a dry sense of humour, or it could well be a 'serious' hint that at my age i shouldn't be surprised at anything he 'might' end up telling me.
oh, and of course, waiting to know the upgrade price ;-)
An alternative way of ensuring you pay the dollar price is to make sure that your preferred internet browser language is set to "English (United States) [en-us]".
If you are in the UK (as I am) this will normally be set to "English (United Kingdom) [en-gb]" and will result in you getting charged at an exchange rate of $1=£1. But a quick change as above results in you being given the proper dollar price, and seems to make no difference to anything else. (Works for me in IE8 on WinXP, at least).
@MarkWWW thats interesting thanks for that.
I did just test it with Firefox but looking at the online store prices, its showing as dollars always no matter what the setting. I cant remember if the problem happened when i got to the very end last time. Where it did the old $1 = £1 trick. So will try this on the next upgrade, when that day comes around.

I'd have to dig through my credit card receipts to see what the upgrade cost is. Based on the Sony Vegas entry on Wikipedia, you don't have long to wait (re: release date is said to be next Tuesday - Oct. 11).
No idea if that's official or whatever, but it's the first mention of anything specific I've seen (though it's a good bet, since they announced VP11 on Sept 9, so the first Tuesday after a month is the M.O. for SCS).
My guess is that upgrade from Vegas 10 to Vegas 11 is free or very small amount , As I don't see too many new features in version 11.

I would think that v.10 to v.11 would only be a free upgrade if you purchased v.10 within a month or so of the release of v.11. Other than that it will be a paid upgrade from any previous version (including v.10).
Previously upgrades (upon release of a new version) have been offered for around $150 for a limited time, then afterwards the upgrade wil typically be $200 to $250.
"As I don't see too many new features in version 11"
Really?
"Updated features include GPU acceleration of video decoding, effects, playback, compositing, pan/crop, transitions, and motion. Other improvements include enhanced text tools, enhanced stereoscopic/3D features, RAW photo support, and new event synchronization mechanisms"

Whatever the upgrade, it'll be smaller than the upgrade I just did to my video card in anticipation of GPU acceleration. 512 CUDA cores works out to about a dollar a core.
