We were recording a voice feed using XP 4.5 The computer powersupply overheated and started smoking, the operator pulled the plug while recording after we had already capture 145 megs of information. Is there any way to get that data usable. We get FMT errors form Windows and that the file is corrupted. Any ideas appreciated.

Unfortunately there is going to be no way to recover this file. Corrupted files are unusable.

Is there actually a file left that reports a file size of more that 1K and is approximately what you would expect the length of your full audio to be?

If not, consider it gone.
If so, some recovery could be possible. The next questions are...

How much time is it worth for you to spend to save this file?
What is the *exact* text of the error messages you are getting, what are you trying to do when you get them, and what O/S are you using?
