Anyone able to give me some advice on Running Acid on a Mac (G4) using Virtual PC? Any "known bugs"-type information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeff |

Uh-oh. First, the OFFICIAL Sonic Foundry take: We do NOT support our software running under any form of emulation. It's designed, tested and supported with real hardware in mind. If you call us, we likely won't be able to help with any problems you're encountering, which is one reason why we say that ACID + emulator on a Mac = no support. UNOFFICIALLY, I have run ACID Pro 2 (not 3... not yet) using Virtual PC 4 on a Mac G3 400Mhz machine. Response is definitely slooooow compared to running on an actual PC, but it works. Avoid using DirectX plugs. They just aren't gonna work well under emulation. MIDI sync/trigger won't work either. It's something that Mac-folk may wish to try out (demos available), but just keep in mind... IT IS NOT SUPPORTED OR RECOMMENDED BY SONIC FOUNDRY AT ALL. Jeff, hopefully some other Mac-folk who use VPC and ACID will come along with some good hints/ideas. I know for a fact that they're out there. Good luck! |
