I keep seeing SF 5 & Noise Reduction 2.0 bundled together (both on line and at stores) for $200. Is Noise Reduction going the way of CD Architect, or is there going to be a Noise Reduction 3.0? |

Who knows! They will probably discontinue it because beyond Vegas, pro audio is not the way SF wants to go. Have you seen their new catalog? Let's face it, they want to get the masses and screw the serious pros and semi-pros. No one around here takes Cool Edit seriously but they are serious about audio editing. |

While I agree with you to a point, I can't help but hope that maybe SF is trying to to go both ways with it-- Sound Forge, etc. for pros, almost everything elese for the masses. I mean, think about it-- they have a 'pro' and a 'consumer' product catalog... That being said, I'm still curious about Noise Reduction-- is there going to be a NR 3.0? I'm hoping that SF can shed some light on the situation... |

Just look at the trend of all their plugins. You sell them seperately for as long as you can, then you start to bundle them together with sound forge to boost sound forge sales and then you include it with the next Sound Forge and Vegas Release. This is what will happen, and is also what "SHOULD" have happened with CD Architect. Noise reduction is a great plugin, but no one, but a pro audio user is going to pay $250 for that plugin. Noise reduction will stay around, I wouldn't expect too many upgrades now that it's being bundled as a package.......look at Acoustic Mirror...oh...that's now part of v5.0. |

...or they might just lower the price. It would be nice to have. At present I use Cool Edit Pro's NR but can always use more software. :) The NR should have been included with SF 5.0. I only get SF's consumer catalog in the mail. I had no idea that they had a pro catalog. They are clearly marketing their software to the average younger consumer. And SF 5.0 IS being targeted for the masses with the lowercost of all of their software in stores like Best Buy. |

Please note that if you've seen such bundles available on other sites, that has nothing to do with us. We do not offer Forge and Noise Reduction as bundle, but some online resellers may choose to offer such a package. This does not mean that Noise Reduction is going to be discontinued or assimilated into another one of our programs. No word on a Noise Reduction 3.0, but I think that's probably because version 2.0 works really well (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). If there is a feature that you would like to see in the next version of Noise Reduction, please tell us! We would love to hear what you think. Use the online product suggestion form to get your ideas directly to our product managers: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/support/default.asp?pageid=1606 Ted |
