Try "end tasking" any programs that are running in the background. Use "Ctrl+Alt+Del" (*once!*), highlight a program, and click "End Task." Do this for every program *except* "Explorer" and "Systray." Some programs are really stubborn so you might get another dialog window telling you the program isn't responding. Just click "End Task" again. Once that's done, try opening ACID again. Any idea on what your system specs are? Installed RAM? Installed programs (generally)? Iacobus |

I tried closing everything, but it didn't work. My computer is like 4 years old now...I only have 32mb of ram. Also I deleted the acid installation folder...I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem |

Hello, You need more ram! Your under the minimum requirement. Get a 128Meg stick and that will help. What is the speed of your processor? See ya, Rockit |

Like Rockit said, that's way too low for RAM. You've got to figure that Windows will take that RAM for itself, leaving only virtual memory for the rest of everything else. Ew. Iacobus |

I just bought the ACID 3.0 program and I've installed it. Every time I try to use it, my computer freezes and I can't even get to the "ctrl, alt, del" screen. I have 128MB ram and plenty of hard drive space. I'm guessing that it's something with my computer, but it only happens when I open Acid, for the most part. I'm a little clueless. |

I can see a big problem here. When I try to run Anything from Sonic Foundry (except Sound Forge 4.5) I See a blue screen. It happens, when program tries to find Audio Plugin, or Directx Plugin. When it starts.I never have any problems with other software. I trided demos of Vegas Audio, Vegas Video, Sound Forge 5.0¨and sonic foundry Acid 2.0 and there is always the same problem. |

Did you try using Ctrl+Alt+Del *before* you opened ACID? Like you said, it could very well be something that you have or had installed. I don't want to be the bee in everyone's bonnet, but I have to be honest. Since Windows is a very touchy OS to begin with, problems can and very likely will occur the more programs and more hardware that you have installed in your system. This includes any past software and hardware that was installed as well. As time goes on, "residue" from past software and hardware driver installations can wreak havoc. A bloated Registry and DLLs that were replaced or installed are common symptoms. Not even the best system utilities will cure it (but can lessen the blow). Sonic Foundry's software titles are not the only titles that are prone to this problem. I've seen countless other software/hardware combinations that produce the very same results. The only surefire solution? Formatting your system. Yeah, I know. It's harsh, but it's the only brute force solution if nothing else will work for you at the moment. But before going on a limb and doing that, see if SF can help you out in any way: Get help from SF here Remember that this is a peer-to-peer (user-to-user) support forum. SF techs frequent here, but in actuality do not have to reply to any problems people are having. They reply out of the goodness of their musical hearts. If you use the link above, you'll get one-on-one email correspondence. OK, I'm done lecturing... Iacobus |

What plugins do you have installed on your system? There are many plugins that can cause this problem. When the crash occurs, what plugin does the ACID/Forge startup screen indicate that it is attempting to verify? Peter |

My acid also crashes but only when im using too many pluggins.Acid needs a lot of ram and processing power to move big audio files. PLAYING BACK AND RECORDING AUDIO IS ONE OF THE MOST STRESSFULL JOBS A CPU HAS TO DO. t.r |
