I record my drummer miced up right into acid. Then I edit the sample in SF 4.5 I selectively take out bits and pieces creating my loops. I save the files and reopen them in Acid and paint as many measures the song I am writing requires to create the Verses and chorus solo section etc... Once I get the structure of the song I then preceed to just play from start of project and add my guitar bass etc......but when I play the whole project and sing to it the track is totally off from the rest of the tracks. It seems like it rolls ok for about 10 seconds then it goes way off the beat and path. I am pretty sure it has to do with number of beats per measure or something but I cant get vocals to sync up. Please anyone I am desparate and I need your help. What am I doing wrong am I missing a step! Regards....Mike mjh@mmcable .com |

It may be that you need to "Acidize" the track. If ytou are using Acid 2.0 here are some instructions on how to do this in Acid. Once you have painted an audio sample into Acid you would highlight the audio sample by selecting it with your cursor. You would then hit the properties tab in the bottom right hand corner of Acid. You should now be looking at the loop's waveform. If you have a file that you would like to play only once you would select for the track type option one shot. You could also designate the root note for transposing in this same area. The root note for transposing would be the actual key that the one shot is in. You would want to set this so if later when you are using the loop in a project and you wanted to apply a key change it would play the one shot at the proper key. This would also be pertinent to all of the other possible track types. If you had a audio sample that you wanted to play looped for the track type you would choose loop. You would also want to include the number of beats that are in the loop. If you have files that a recorded into Acid they will generally show up in projects as disk based tracks. If you wanted to have a disk based track play back in sync with all of the other loops that you are using in your project you would follow the aforementioned steps. You would for track type choose Disk-Based but you would also want to include the tempo of the disk based track. This step will insure that the track is played back properly. Now for the information that you have entered to stay intact with the file you would have to hit the little button that looks like a 3.5 inch floppy on the properties tab. THE CHANGES THAT YOU HAVE MADE WILL ONLY STAY IF YOU USE THIS BUTTON TO SAVE. If you are using Acid 3.0 the procedure is basically the same only you would want to double click on the track icon (this would be the little arrow in a circle indicating a loop) to bring up the track properties. The rest of the procedure is the same. |

Or you could just buy Cakewalk's Plasma and spend your time on creative issues. Plasma syncs audio overdubs to Acid loops with zero problems, and costs $39 street. |
