I have recently installed a Creative X-Fi extreme soundcard (a gift). In the process I uninstalled any other audio drivers ie, Realtek onboard sound, and asio4all. Now on opening preferences, then audio devices, I only have 3 choices in the drop down box for audio device type.... 1. Microsoft sound mapper 2. Direct sound sound mapper 3. Windows classic wave driver I am wondering how to select my new card? Same story for Audio recording device, at present I can't record from one track to a new track...no record. |

If you want to use ASIO, then you need to install the ASIO drivers for the new card. The mapper sends to where you have set up windows to route default audio output and input. Same for the direct surround mapper. The creative outputs should appear as sub choices for the wave classic. Peter |
