I would make sure that you have the latest update for Video Factory installed. You can download this for free from www.sonicfoundry.com/download. If you continue to see this problem please contact our technical support department support@sonicfoundry.com.

I just posted a similar question over on the VV board. The only new twist in my system is the Vidcap capture utility that I downloaded with the demo version of VF. I downloaded the demo in response to a suggestion by SF moderators to do so in order to take advantage of some of the enhanced features available at no cost to us VegasVideo users (the capture utility that was included with VV did not work well on my system).

I wonder if this problem relates to the Vidcap utility.

For what it's worth, I am now seeing that error message when previewing a VV project from the timeline. I just click cancel and go on about my business.

Also, I completed a short (20 minute) project from an hours worth of DV footage which I captured with the new Vidcap utility, then printed it to tape without a hitch . . . video was very smooth, audio was fine.

Thanks for the updated Vidcap, SF.

I've seen that message several times, it seems to be caused by having too many effects (both video and audio) going for the live preview's audio to be able to keep up. It's never carried over to a render for me, so I have never worried about it.
