Avid VS. Vegas

Well,
After 6 years of using just Sony Vegas, I finally have to use another editing suite at my corporate gig for a television studio.
I've heard lots and lots about Avid and Final cut being the two top industry standard programs. I had high expectations of both. I've seen FCP in action and was impressed, (still like Vegas better).
After a week of learning Avid, all I can say is WTF!
Why anyone would still want to edit on this rather than Vegas is beyond me. I mean everything you want to do is 5-6 clicks rather than one simple move.
Turn on this layer and that layer, associate the source layer to this one or that one. The timeline is so dated it's depressing.
Adding transitions is less than desired, oh and never mind the having to "pre-render" an effect before you can see it properly.
Add text or an effect, my god..... it is soooooo manual.
I miss my Vegas when I am at work.
Vegas vs. Avid
Vegas is the true winner, hands down!

Add to that, everytime you try and do a task or just click on the screen it stops everything, Very frustrating,

You don't really expect anyone on this forum to disagree with you, do you? Avid isn't for the faint of heart, that's for sure. But it has never let me down...Vegas on the other hand...well, to each his own I say.

Vegas is my Favorite by far. There are some nice features in Avid that I would like to see in Vegas for example the way media is managed. I can import media to a bin then in the bin arrange the media in the order I want to see on the timeline then drag the whole bunch to TL. Very nice.

i think nearly every nle i've ever used has better media management than vegas - but none come close to vegas otherwise.

It depends on what the task at hand is.
I've watched an editor cut an interview on Avid and both myself and an FCP editor were just gobsmacked at how fast he was. All keyboard shortcuts. These guys don't do color correction, need dissolves or have to futz around with audio. The guys who shoot the footage know their job, the sound guy knows his job.
Outside the ENG / EFG world, yes, media management is Avid's strongest point. So far no one seems to have come close to their Unity backend system and that alone seems to have sent many back to Avid after playing with FCP.
