Well,
After 6 years of using just Sony Vegas, I finally have to use another editing suite at my corporate gig for a television studio.
I've heard lots and lots about Avid and Final cut being the two top industry standard programs. I had high expectations of both. I've seen FCP in action and was impressed, (still like Vegas better).
After a week of learning Avid, all I can say is WTF!
Why anyone would still want to edit on this rather than Vegas is beyond me. I mean everything you want to do is 5-6 clicks rather than one simple move.
Turn on this layer and that layer, associate the source layer to this one or that one. The timeline is so dated it's depressing.
Adding transitions is less than desired, oh and never mind the having to "pre-render" an effect before you can see it properly.
Add text or an effect, my god..... it is soooooo manual.
I miss my Vegas when I am at work.
Vegas vs. Avid
Vegas is the true winner, hands down!
