Render problem

Ok, here is the problem. When I render out my short film that is 11:10 long there seems to be a stuttering problem every now and then when I watch it on the computer and DVD. I will render it again and the problem will be in a new spot. So, I have come to the conclusion that it is not in the footage since everything looks fine in the timeline and when I watch the footage seperately.
The files are .MOV shot on a Canon 7d at 23.976 fp. I have tried rendering in mpg and avi with both doing the same thing. Does anyone have any suggestion?
My computer has 12 gigs of ram, 2 terabyte of harddrive space, running on the intel i7 core processor.

Are you watching the DVD on your PC monitor on your TV?

What bitrate are you encoding?

what are you rendering to, and at what settings?

i would think that an i7 enough to afford reasonable playback....

and is that 2tb of space on the same disk as your os? (ie. you only have one hard drive)

No I am watching the dvd on a playstation 3 and a dvd player. The bitrate is set to variable with low being 5,000,000 high being 8,500,000 and average around 7,000,00.
