I have used ACID DJ for years and now i have got ACID PRO 3. All my samples are in wav format. I cant see any of the wav samples unless i choose view all files. is this the way its supposed to be? And then when i click on a wav file it doesnt preview. And also when i try to add the wav file to my project it says "This file cannot be added to ACID projects. The file type may not be supported" whats the problem?
I have a VIBRA 128 sound card, 733mhz with 128 Meg RAM etc.The option is on Classic Wave Driver and Vibra 128 Playback. Ive tried the other Microsoft Sound Mapper but that doesnt work either. SOMEBODY HELPP!!

Hello,

It sounds like Windows isn't recognizing your wav. files correctly. Try going into folder options and correct the problem there, and if you have Sound Forge installed you can go into options there and make Sound Forge the default program for wav. files.

Try that and let me know. See ya, Rockit

Sounds like the install is bad.

ACID 3 does not use any Windows file associations for its audio files. It does us a file filter driver for all media types that it supports. If this file failed to install correctly, then this could be causing the problem.

Try uninstalling ACID 3 and then do a fresh install.

Rockit,

Unlikely the cause. ACID does not use any of Windows' association for file types internally. Setting the file association in Windows to be Sound Forge (or ACID) would only cause Forge (or ACID) to launch when a file is double clicked or "Opened" from the Windows explorer. The ACID explorer uses internal file filters or "drivers" to load, play, and record media.

Hello,

OK then help me out here too, because I've had some problems with wav files in my machine also.

Like when your in folder options in Windows, What program are you supposed to set for wav files? or, What is the default program for windows to use? And I've found another type of wav file on my system that Acid wont play called a wav-1 file. What is that type for?

Thanks, Rockit

Typically .wav files are associted with your media player. If you have a standard Windows install, then this would be Windows Media Player.

Some apps will associate wav to the app. You could associate Sound Forge to open all wave files if you want. I believe RealAudio will let you choose this at start up.

I am not familar with wav-1 file type. Do you know what created this file? Can you email me a small example file?

Version 165 is the beta release. The latest build version is 284.

Where did you obtain this version? Did you license ACID 3 from us directly or did you purchase it at a store?

You need to contact our tech support directly.

Not to butt in, but have you gone into your Acid preferences to make sure that the proper soundcard is the default card for playback? This could be it.
Sometimes when you upgrade, the new program may not have set the default soundcard like it should have.
I experienced this when I upgraded my soundcard.
I had to go in and change the playback default when I reopened my acd files in acid. Place a loop in Acid, go to the boxed number next to the mute button on that individual file. click on the number box and it will tell you if your current soundcard is the playback default. It could be something as simple as this that's tripping you up. good luck, and yes like the previous person said, I would contact tech support just to make sure.
Take care,
Maninblac4
