Subject:Process Converter - what does this message mean?

Greetings All,

In SF Pro 10, I select a portion of audio anywhere in an opened sound file. Then I go to Process/Channel Converter/Stereo to Stereo – Swap Channels. Before applying this preset I receive the following message:

The Channel Converter function will affect all sample data regardless of the current selection.
Do you wish to continue?

I’m wondering why this message appears when, after answering "Yes", the non-selected data appears fine. Btw, this occurs on just a two channel standard stereo file.

Can some one please explain this message?

Thanks.

It means that regardless of what you have selected, the process will affect the entire file. Channel Conversion can't be done on just a portion of a file. If you want to just process a portion of a file, copy the selection to a new file (CTRL+C, CTRL+E) and do the processing. Then paste it back into your main file.

Thanks Rob, for your reply. The reason I ask is because I thought for sure I was able to do this before on a selection without affecting the rest of the file. Oh well, it must have been in a different version or something.
