Subject:help w/video

Hi, i feel more stupid every day. but i am trying to open a downloaded video file into either a.p.3or sf.5
the file types are either quick time movie or RAR. I KEEP GETTING THE " unsupported format" message. actually i tried a wav conversion, and i recieve audio play back but no video. see i told you i was stupid. But please, a little help.

Neither Sound Forge nor Acid will allow you to open .rar files. For the .mov file it would be helpful to know what application that it was created in and how it was rendered. For example what codec it used to compress the file.
