Hi, i have a little problem with the new build. If i install it without an previous installed version of the BatchConverter, it ask me for a serial number. If i enter my serial from SoundForge i get an error message and i can't use the new BatchConverter. If i install it over an old version, i have no problem with the new build. Is it possible to get a working serial number for the new build ? |

It worked automatically for me. I didn't have to enter anything. BTW, now the converter works great. I use it all the time. |

You are probably entering an activation code that you were given for a previous installation. Please call 1-800-577-6642 and we can assist you. Ted |

I don't talk about the activation code(3Dxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx), i mean the real serial number(3D-xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx). If i install the latest BatchConverter5a on a _clean_ Windows system where only SF5 is installed, the BatchConverter5a ask for a serial number and _not_ for an activation code. The old BatchConverter5 can be installed without an serial number but not the version 5a. Only if i install the old BatchConverter5 before the latest version 5a, the new build can be activated without entering an serial number. You can see the problem if you uninstall the BC5(a) and delete the old registry keys with the registration information( HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic Foundry\Batch Converter\5.0\License ). Now install the BatchConverter5a and you must enter a serial number and if you try the same with the old BC, it don't ask for the s.n.. ps: sorry for my bad english |

Ted, Sorry pal but there is a major problem here. A clean install of 5.0a asks for a serial number (just like any other SF product). I never received a serial for Batch Converter at all. (when I grabbed this app, it was offered to me as part of my Soundforge 5.0 purchase) However, if you install the original 5.0, you are NOT prompted for a serial...at startup, the program simply flashes a dialog that asks "Register Online?" etc...if you choose "Online" and click Next...the installer contacts your servers...exchanges some data and the program is installed. Since I couldn't get 5.0a to work...I installed 5.0 first and then installed 5.0a overtop. All is well... But 5.0a is very different from 5.0. I recall using my Soundforge 5.0 serial to get access to the original 5.0 download. Never ever had to ever enter a serial at startup on 5.0.(original( Can you please clarify what the deal is? Do we need a serial or not? Or was the original Batch Converter 5.0 a token freebee that cannot be updated? I downloaded and used this thing cause it was free. I absolutely no desire to purchase it. These tools should have been included with Soundforge from the start. It is ridiculous to have to get "another" app just to batch a few files once and a while. Cuzin B |

There is no "major problem." The serial number would have been included in the e-mail you received from us when you registered. If you do not have your serial number for the Batch Converter, all you need to do is call 1-800-577-6642 or e-mail customerservice@sonicfoundry.com and we can give you the number. Ted |

I can see a point in making a seperate batch converter. The obvious is that SF can sell it as a standalone program that anyone can use. Second, is to market a batch converter than handles many types of files AND batches Direct-X plug-ins among other things. |

Ted, I don't mean to be crass here but I never, ever received a serial for this app. Like I said in my last message...my original (June/July 2001 Version 5.0)copy of Batch Converter that I downloaded doesn't need a number. I run Setup and the files are copied. I double click on the desktop icon and the app immediately goes into challenge/response with the Sonic Foundry licensing server. It gets a number from somewhere, the app launchs and that's it. Not so with 5.0a. It acts like a normal demo copy that needs to be unlocked. How can I convince Customer Service that I am entitled to run this app and get my number if I don't have so much as a Order# or email confirming that I am a Batch Converter client. All I can remember is I received an unsolicited email notification from you guys saying this "cool" new app was available. I also recall that if I wanted to download, I was told to input my Soundforge 5.0 serial number on a special web page to access this downloadable archive. That's all I know. I can send you the original 5.0 if you want to test it and see. Cuzin B |

There is no need to convince customer service that you are entitled to use Batch Converter. As long as you have registered Sound Forge 5.0 or the Batch Converter before, or you can give us your serial number over the phone, we will give you the serial number. Please call us, 1-800-577-6642. Ted |

First let me apologize for all the confusion. A special build of Batch Converter is required Sound Forge users. This build is now available on the Batch Converter Update page, and the Sound Forge Update page. You need to be a registered Sound Forge user and have your serial number to access the download. I hope this helps. |

Guys, Thanks for clearing this up. This is exactly what I was talking about. This "special" download is set up the same way the original was. You need to put in your Soundforge serial to access to the app. After this file is downloaded and setup...do we need to enter a serial as well? Cuzin B |

As long as you have your Sound Forge registered, you'll only have to enter the serial number once to download this build. |
