Subject:SF inserting blank frames into saved MP3's?

I converted my WAV's to MP3's, and saved them. When I reopen the files, SF has inserted blank frames at the front and end of my file. I deleted the blanks and resaved the file, but when I reopened the file they had been reinserted. How can I avoid this?

Whodat,

The added silence you speak of is a part of the MP3 encoding process, and in particular the Fraunhofer standard that Sound Forge uses. As odd as it may seem, it's actually a neccesary method used to fill in partially used frames in the audio. Also, some other codecs out there delete a bit of audio from the beginnings of files, and the added silence helps counterract that. Try as you might, you cannot take this silence out, and efforts to do so may truncate your files.

Hope this helps,
Nick LaMartina
