Latency on multiple track midi recording -ACID Product Family

Record a midi track played from an M-Audio Oxygen 61 keyboard connected via USB and using a VST synth for piano. 2. Record 2nd midi track exactly the same set-up alongside the first track. 3. On playback the second track is no longer in synch with the first track although both sounded OK when playing track 1 whilst recording track 2. This is all being done using Sony Acid Music Studio 8 under WIndows 7 on a Dell Laptop. My question is, where is the problem likely to lie? WIll it be the laptop not up to the job or are there any adjustments I can make in Music Studio? Very grateful for any advice or help! David
