over the past month I've been moving everything over to a newer computer and it's been going smoothly. But I installed gigastudio 3 ensemble and am still waiting for the registrationcode. when I try to open ap7e I get the BSOD. also installed kontakt 4 recently but I don't think that's suspect. can anyone tell me if acid could crash due to a rewire issue with gigastudio being installed but not registered. |

BSOD = kernel = hardware/driver issue. ACID cannot by itself cause a BSOD as it has no kernel code. Check your drivers and hardware. What does the BSOD tell you caused the problem? Are your system specs reflecting your new system? Giga installs a kernel component, and uses its special audio drivers. I would start there. Peter, I'll update my system specs later but I'll give you the basics now: Dell 8400 (not new obviously, just new to me), 2g ram, xp sp3, m-audio 2496 (as my "system" sound card), motu 828 (but only turn it on when I know I'm going to be recording), radeon video (not sure which model at the moment). I had everything installed (IK stuff, Adobe, etc) and everything was running fine. but hadn't installed native instruments and gigastudio. After installation, as I said kore & Kontakt run fine stand alone. The BSOD says "driver irql not less or equal". I've tried to investigate any driver conflict but nothing is indicated in device manager. ? |

The BSOD says it all. Some driver on your system is not happy. You should try using the restore points that get created when you install drivers and such until you find the culprit. Also check your error logs in XP. They can provide more information on the driver that caused the kernel fault. Peter Message last edited on7/1/2011 2:18:58 PM bypwppch. |

Thanks, I will look further. what I can't understand is why it happens only when I launch acid. |

I can't find the problem. I don't know what to investigate system wise. Even looking at event log 1001 doesn't help. Sound Forge and Reaper launch without BSOD. At ap7e "post" it always crashes at "rewire mixer". But I have gotten the registration key for Gigastudio and acid still fails. Message last edited on7/4/2011 6:54:31 AM byKappeesh. |

ACID cannot cause a BSOD. Forge does not use ReWire. If you uninstall giga, does the problem persist? Peter Message last edited on7/4/2011 9:02:27 AM bypwppch. |

If giga runs fine stand alone and its not a rewire issue then how could uninstalling it help? Please explain. you mentioned checking error logs. where exactly do I check to see this kernel problem? Message last edited on7/4/2011 12:47:25 PM byKappeesh. |
