828 Rehashed

I'm a scribe to Recording mag, and therefore saw the recent 828 (MOTU) write-up, and was like "there it is!! That's my rock box!!!" (cuz as far as I know USB limits to 20 bit cuz of bandwith and Firewire supposedly smokes it and all I had was a SB Live) and since my brother had a debt with me, I used that to buy something with out doin a real white paper reading on. I failed to inquire about WDM and all that. I was thrilled about the Zero Lat. cue mix feature, etc. Eazy sell? I read the side bar about a WIN machine w/Vegas and was stoked by the fact that the prog. I wanna use was mentioned, with out anything derogatory. It did install and show up with out a hitch, but, man, one thing after another. I'm still putzin, to try and get it to work the way I envisioned it all after reading that article. Alot of stuff ain't goin' well with me, such as, and this is the biggie right now, is that I can only monitor something AFTER i record it, so I do have to use an external mixer, just to hear what I'm puttin down. Another thing was that I couldn't make the punch jack useful(in the manual it clearly states that the pedal jack is only for Mac, They have an update at the motu site that allows Gates' boys ta use a pedal to punch I/O.) Anyways, anyone with the 828 running Vegas Video or Audio, if you got some tips on how to utilize it's full (Mac on a WIN) potential or any probs ya all had and found work arounds, please tell! I apologize for not searchin' through the threads before posting this. Also, the die hard Thanks In Advance.

Here is a link to an article that explains about the cue mix problem you are experiencing.http://www.sonicfoundry.com/support/SupportProduct.asp?FamilyID=30&Family=Vegas&TopicID=43&DetailID=187. Also if i am not mistakem i beleive that MOTO provides an application with their hardware called cue mix that will help you out.

I realize this is an old post, but your answer is what I needed to read. I'm using a MOTU 828 with ACID, SoundForge 5 and Vegas 3.0. I can not monitor anything in Vegas while playing. However, Cakewalk Sonar 1.3 works flawlessly, so I pull my video into this and add my audio tracks.

Thanks again.
