Acid does not seem to like Windows 7 Pro. Tracks seems pop weather I use buses or not. But, Buses Make it worse. I have gigs of Ram and acts like I have a 386. Doe anyone have a solution? Does Any have the same problem? Rob |

Works fine here...however - available RAM has nothing to do with pops n clicks. Please let us know what you are running for hardware - including your audio interface...then we could try and see what's happening... Cheers, VP |

OK...firewire...a potential issue there - very dependent on the type of chip on your motherboard. The cheaper the FW interface chip, the more potential for clicks and other nasties... Generally the TI (Texas Instruments) FW chip is where you want to be. When you get a chance - let me know what kind of motherboard you are running so we can see what's happening there. Cheers, VP |

I got pops and clicks on Acid and Vegas after doing a XP-SP3 over-install over the top of an older XP version. Seemed to be graphics driver or sub-system related. Rob, does yours 'gap' when you, say, pop open an effects chain window by any chance ? geoff Message last edited on5/26/2011 3:37:11 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

I FEEL like I'm ALL alone......Your support is only imaginary......It sucks out all my imagination and creativity and leaves me curled up in a ball being too afraid to live and too afraid to die..... Can ANYONE help solve my problem..... I have 20 songs built in your INFERIOR program.... Here are my points.... 1. It is NOT my interface 2. It is NOT my firewire card My bandmate has an intel i7 chip running windows 7 64 bit on his computer with 6 Gig's of DDR3 RAM and it has the exact same problem...... NOW CAN YOU FIX THIS PROBLEM Yes or No???? |

Evergreenrob, the only time I have had a similar issue has been device driver related. The other suggestion on the thread as for using TI chipset FW cards is something I have always adhered to. Another suggestion is to go through your MB BIOS turn off all CPU related throttling. Can you try using the Microsoft Sound Mapper driver? |

I am looking into it. Some questions... 1. Does increasing the latency correct the problem? If so, how low can you set it before the problem occurs. 2. Does the safire provide Wave drivers? If you use these, does the problem exist? 3. Have you tried connecting the device to an alternate FireWire port on your system? 4. Are you running direct or through a FireWire hub? 5. What do you mean exactly by "rams out?" Peter Message last edited on6/1/2011 11:34:51 PM bypwppch. |

Nobody has yet suggested to investigate the plugins you're using. Some plugs don't play nicely with Acid (even high-end stuff). Delete non-Sony plugins one at a time and keep testing. Its a tedious process but the only way you can determine if this is related to your problem. |

Good point drbram. I was under the assumption from OP that this happens with a simple wave/loop/midi track on the timeline. If this is not the case, then can the OP provide some details? Peter |

Actually, I wouldn't necessarily discount the problem being with your interface. I used one of the old white-faced Saffire interfaces for years (bought in I think 2007?)... it was always a finicky piece of gear, but at the beginning of this year I noticed frequent clicks/pops when recording... shortly after that it kept losing connection/dying on me. I bought a new Saffire Pro 24 (which comes with a MUCH better version of Saffire Control, incidentally) and have had zero problems since. Is your bandmate using the same interface? |

Here are my points.... 1. It is NOT my interface 2. It is NOT my firewire card How do you know that these two are in the clear? We are trying to help. I have the identical OS with the identical app (different mobo and interface of course) and I have no issues whatsoever. You need to clearly define how it is that you know for certain your interface/card is NOT at fault here and start getting us some detail. AKA: What kind of board/computer. What slots are being used and what's in them. What video card you have....and so on. ALL of this plays into clicks, pops and other nasties. Get an equipment listing up here so we can see what your working with... VP |

Yes, when I remove plugins then the situation improves, but I need those plugins in order to make the tracks sound good. Also, since your copy of Acid Pro 7 works flawlessly with plugins on your computer, then what are the stats of your computer? Also what is the sound card that you are using on your computer? I'm sick and tired of throwing money at my computer and so far nothing seems to be working. If I knew the stats of your test computer then that would be a great help. Thanks. |

Rob, Here's my studio machine specs: • CPU: Intel Core™2 Quad Processor Q9550 • Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R (REV 1.1) • Graphics: PNY Quadro FX380 • Network: Realtek RTL8168C/8111C PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC • Audio: RME HDSPe Multiface II • Memory: 8GB Mushkin HP2-6400 (996587) • Optical 1: Pioneer DVR-112D • Optical 2: Plextor Premium CD-R • HD1: WD Caviar Black 500 GB SATA II • HD2: Seagate 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 • HD3: Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200.12 • HD4: Antec Easy SATA Docking Station • Case: ANTEC P182 • PSU: Corsair VX 550 • OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit This build works brilliantly with Acid Pro 7...no clicks pops or anything thing else strange. Acid works great as does all other audio apps. But I am running PCIe and not firewire. I know you probably do not want to hear this again - but I am convinced your issues will end up coming down to your FW port type on your computer. I have asked you to ID your motherboard/computer so we can see exactly what FW chip you are running - I am still hoping you will post some detail for us. VP |

I always thought that a 64-bit OS wasn't suggested for audio use unless you have a 64-bit DAW and 64-bit versions of all your plugins and that sometimes a 32bit to 64bit bridge can have problems with particular plug-ins. |

Coolout that is correct. Do not use a 32 bit program[as well as plugins/instruments] in a 64 bit environment...complete waste of time. When you go 64 bit stick only with ones that are wrtitten for 64 bit...the bit bridge B.S. is nonsense. |

I had the exact same problem with an older Creative Sound Card !!!! This is not ACID Pro but a hardware Timing issue. I've never used Firewire before but - Firewire -- Buffer 5.0 ms --" to me is a red flag in and of it's self. I Have solved many audio issues over the years and 90% have been timing issues. Running ASIO @ 10.0 ms is great if your Sound Card can handle it, if it can't then you will get Clicks, Pops & or dropouts in your audio, try setting the ASIO to 100ms or more, if that fixes the problem, then keep moving it back down slowly until the the problem starts again, then move it back up one or two setting and your should be on your way to making some tunes. Also your can download a third party ASIO (Google "ASIO4ALL" its free and it works) Hope that helps? |
