Does anyone else get this problem??

Completely randomly, acid will crashes!! The track will continue playing, but you cant save or anything else, all you can do is ctrl, Alt, del and end task!!

This has happen ever since the original version and it seems to be something that SF is ignoring.

It happens with both new and old tracks, with tracks that have plugins or no plugins!!

Surely this needs to be fixed, Clicking Save every 2 seconds in fear you might lose what you have done starts to become a chore after a while!!

Please address this problem

Sorry to hear about your unpredictable crashes.
I have been using ACID Pro since 1.0. I went ahead
and installed ACID 3.0c last night. During this time
I have used ACID on two different computer systems
and three different OS's. I have not encountered the
behaviour you are describing. On the rare ocassions,
that ACID has crashed on me it was usually due to a
flaky plugin I was attempting to use. I am no expert,
but I would think that there must be some kind issue
concerning how your computer hardware and/or
system configuration is interacting with ACID that is causing your program crashes. If this indeed was a problem relating to the ACID program itself, every ACID user be experiencing the exact same thing. What is your current system configuration, OS , software
and hardware? Someone may have experienced this
problem with a simular system and knows the proper fix. With so many different software and hardware configurations in the PC world, it is difficult to pinpoint the problem without all of the specifics.

Hello,

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the update fresh instead of installing on top of the existing program? That might work. Let me know.
See ya, Rockit

My system is AMD athlon 700, 256Mb Ram, 60Gb Hard Disk, Soundblaster Live Running Win ME.

I have had this problem occur since the first release of 3.0, it never used to happen with earlier versions, It isnt just me that has been experiencing this, i have a number of friends who also have complained of this problem.

When it happens a dialog box will pop up detailing that Acid has cause an exception error. You can only click ok, but this dosent do anything, the box just appears straight away. The only plugins i use and have been using for a long time are db tempo delay and various dsp fx.

A typical time it will do it if its going to is if you let a track continue to play after the end of any events, and like i said before it makes no difference at all if you have started the track fresh in 3.0 or are editing a previous project for 2.0.

In terms of conflicting software, The only things that may be running in the background would be Cool Edit Pro 1.2a or maybe Fruityloops 2.7. But i have had the exception error with both these running and not. I only have the sound card drivers installed and not any of the Live ware, and when i installed 3.0c i did uninstall 3.0b and restart first.

I am pretty sure the drivers i have for the sound card are the current as i downloaded these about 3 weeks ago, i havent tried any change of drivers for my graphics card (nvida geforce 2 mx400) but i cant see how it could be this.

I appologuise for claiming that SF are ignoring this problem, its just that it seems like the only bug that never gets mentioned.

Thanks for any replies and suggestions.

Do you by any chance have a Via chipset on your AMD?

This could be what is causing the crash. We found that there is a hardware combination that causes ACID 3.0 to crash-
AMD with Via chipset combined with the SBLive! card.

Unfortunetly, since this problem stems from hardware it cannot be fixed on our end.

If this happens to be your set-up, I would suggest picking up a different soundcard. There are plenty on the market that are decent and don't bust your budget. The SBLive! is a little bit of a "hog" so a different soundcard could help.

If this is not your set-up... do let tech support know- they can get the necessary information we'll need from you to track down the problem.

Thanks!
