Subject:ACID Pro 7 Crashes Upon "Undo" of Recording...

Six out of ten times, when recording audio, ACID Pro 6 through 7 crashes when you hit "UNDO". An error screen comes up once I hit "ok" the program quits itself.

This is highly frustrating and kills any momentum when recording audio/instruments. You have to reset up your default folders and everything.

WHAT HAPPENS:
a) Hit record. (Audio will record).
b) Hit Stop. Rewind, etc.
c) Listen back to the recording.
d) If you hit "Undo", the program crashes.

The irritating thing is that it does it so often, but without any rhyme or reason. I've tried this on multiple drives, and now different OS's and it's the same thing. I now suspect it's the programs fault.

I'm a long time user (version 1), and ever since upgrading to Acid Pro 6 from version 4, this is something that I've been struggling with. At first I thought it was my old OS (Windows XP), but I recently had a fresh switch to Windows 7 (64-bit) and the problem persists.

Sidenote: I use a Frontier Labs 'Tranzport' as an external control. (It works 100% fine, rock solid play controls).

Has anyone encountered this issue as well? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks!

Can you describe the project?

Does the most basic project exhibit this?

Yes. It simply doesn't matter what the size or content of the project is.

It can be something as simple as recording vocals over a beatmapped/one-shot track or recording a solo over a midi-based project. It's VERY random, and I can't figure out why it does this for the life of me.

If I record something...and hit undo 6/10 times, the program will simply crash.

Of course, it just did it again. So, here is a screen shot of the crash error details: http://oi52.tinypic.com/2nl4u1h.jpg

I am dealing with the same problem at the moment after upgrading to Windows 7 64bit. Mine, however, crashes when I mute tracks. I am starting to assume that Sony hasn't completely worked out the bugs with the 64bit compatibility. I had no problems running windows Vista 32bit, but I have tons since I upgraded. The problems have also gotten worse since I updated my BIOS to allow me to get the full 4gb of ram out of my PC. I feel your pain though...frustrating!

I've had projects crash on me once in a blue moon but I haven't had any constant crashing while recording as of recent. (Using Vista 64-bit here.) Trying to repro in different scenarios but I haven't had any success as of yet.

Look into your video; see if any updates for drivers are available.

I sometimes get crashes when undoing (CTRL-Z) a recording. My work-around is to select and delete the recorded clip instead of undoing.

Anyone have more information on this crash since the last post in January? Thanks.

Unfortunately I had experimented the same problem, many crashes recording, playing projects using several VSTi (Komplete 5 instruments). Crash when using Melodyne VST, iZotope Alloy, Nectar....

The last problem have been an unstable behavior running under Win 7 32 bits (spanish languaje).

As a solution I have migrated to Ableton Live 8.2. I have 5 months using Live. It has crashed only 1 or 2 times, working by 4 to 10 continuos hours.

I loved Acid for 6 years, but the actual unstability is embarrasing and unfortunately we have from february '10 without any bug fixing, any update or any signal about a new and improved version...

I get the crash when I use certain plug- ins.I wondering if it's because Acid 7 has sooooo much stuff that the average Joe will never use that they just haven't worked all the bugs out because it's such a massive program that to work them all out it would take 20 years before they could release it.I don't know, just a theory. It still stinks when it crashes. At least it ask you if you want to go back to what you were working on after start up.I avoid some plug-ins like the plague. Hope you fix it because Acid 7 is pretty cool.Marc

I'm getting this while recording MIDI. In my case, instead of crashing, it's playing back with no sound. I have to go to the "Advanced" tab of Audio Device Preferences and click "Configure" to get the audio working again. I don't actually have to configure anything, just opening that dialog gets ACID communicating with the soundcard again. E-mu 1212 on Vista X64. The only problem plug-in I've identified is the Focusrite Liquid Mix, but I see that there's a newer driver that will hopefully help.

Hope this helps...
After midi recording and getting the same "no sound" after, I found that I can right click on the track and go to properties then close that and playback is normal. I guess it relinks or something.
The undo recording scenario is one that - in my situation - if its a bad take I just move on and delete them later. Acid does not like undo after record. Wish it were easier.
