Using SF 5.0 am unable to audition cd tracks before ripping them. I push the play button, but hear no sound from my speakers. However, I'm able to rip the track successfully. Suggestions? |

Can you use Windows Media player and play back Tracks from a CD? If you can't then it sounds like you don't have the wire which connects from your CD Rom to your Sound card connected. These costs about 2 bucks |

Windows Media Player is not always a good test for the above situation. However, it can be. First, open the Windows Volume Controls either by double-clicking on the speaker icon in your clock tray or through the Start Menu and make sure that the volume for your CD playback isn't muted. If you have Win98/98SE, you can test by opening the standard Windows CD Player application that is under the Entertainment group in the Accessories in your Start menu. If you hear the CD, you have the cable, if you don't, you don't. If you have ME/2000 you will need to use Windows Media Player 7 to test, but you have to make a couple changes first. Open WMP7, go to the Tools menu and choose Options, next go to the CD Audio tab and uncheck Digital Playback. OK out and you are set to test. Again, if you hear the CD, you have the cable, if not, you don't. |
