I recently bought Acid Pro 3.0 and I need a better soundcard. I was looking at M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card for $160. I don't know much about soundcards so I was wondering if M-Audio is a good name. Also if anyone knows anything about that particular soundcard any feedback would be appreciated. I plan on making a home studio I just need to know if that will get the job done. If ya have any other suggestions for soundcards that would be appreciated, but I am on a limited budget though. If you want to know more about sound cards in general, check out www.pctechguide.com Also, you can see some specs on that card at www.computersandmusic.com Under Hardware-Audio Interfaces. I'm buying the Echo Mia this week. It's getting good reviews, and it's under 200$. www.echoaudio.com You can see specs on the Mia at computersandmusic.com also, that way you can compare. Hope this helps Later. |

I just picked up the M Audio Audiophile 2496. Best damned $160 I've ever spent. Be aware that the outputs on the soundcard require either an RCA analog connection (left and right) and/or a S/PDIF connection. You can use a home stereo amplifier/receiver if you wanted should you feel strapped for cash. HTH, Iacobus |

I've got the Mia from Echo ($188 at edirol.com)and it's excellent. Pro lo-impedance 1/4" I/O, 8-channel dsp mixing and support for multiple apps. Plus the reviews rave about the new primo A/D/A converters which are usually on much more expensive boards. No ADAT or midi connections, but it does have spdf. |

great soundcard, has serious compatability issues with windows 2000 and directx 8. don't use if u have either of those. since installation (and i've tried everything, support doesn't even return my emails at this point, they just said to send the card back for testing which i intend to do) i've consistently gotten blue screen crashes pointing to "kmixer.sys" and "delta.sys" .. this is at totally random times but at least twice a day! -jonah |

After reading far too many reviews on sound cards (my head was swimmin') settled on Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.0. Comes with features only expected to be seen in much more expensive cards. I've already checked and it will be compatible with the Yamaha SW1000XG I got on layaway...Level Vibes |

Hello, I have a M-Audio Audiophile and a Delta Dio 24/96 installed on the same machine for multitracking, and I think they're great. I had some problems at first but with updated drivers the problems were solved. I recomend the Audiophile for sure. Jonah, If your having problems with the card and Windows 2K Try the new beta drivers, and move the card to different PCI slots to try to resolve conflicts that might not be apperent in the normal fashion. Also list your system configuration and maybe we can help you resolve your problem. See ya, Rockit |
