Subject:cant playback recorded MIDI tracks without closing

Hi!

I have been having this problem since I purchased AicdPro7. I have version 7e build 713 installed.

If I record a MIDI track that is pointed to a VST, I can hear the VST when Im recording the track, but when the recording is finished and I playback the track to hear what Ive recorded, the VST does not play. No action on the meters and the track is still pointed to the VST..

The only way I get get the track to play back is to close Acid completely and reopen it. Then the track plays back fine.

I have spoken to two other long time users and they have had a similar issue.

Is there a solution to this problem? It's a real big issue if you work exclusively in MIDI like I do.

I would pay to talk to tech support at this point because it is that serious to me, but I suspect this is a known bug rather than an issue I can fix. The two other users I spoke to have robust systems like mine and up-to-date drivers, so at a loss.

Thanks

I checked my options - I have REAL TIME MIDI enabled, ins (from USB keyboard) and outs (to VST synth) are correct on the tracks, SEND MIDI INPUT THRU TO MIDI OUTPUT IS CHECKED. MIDI channels are routed correctly to a different channel in sequence and yet not one of the channels will play back.

No flash of MIDI activity on wither the tracks themselves or the mixer tracks.

So...I save the project, close the program, reopen it, hit PLAY and EVERY track plays back.

This is maddening...Does this mean the only way I can record MIDI in AP7 is to record a MIDI track, close the program, reopen it, record another one, close the program, reopen it and so on? Wow......cant believe that's what Im having to do to record and playback MIDI. It's what my two friends are also having to do as well. How can this be in a Pro level product?

We have tried to reproduce this problem for a very long time. We have been unable to.

When this happens again, try to log every detail you can.

What if you save the project, close it, and reopen instead of closing ACID?

One thing to try: after you record your midi, and you get no output, edit a midi note on the track. Does the midi play? Does the not you edited play?

If you copy the midi data from the original track to a new track, does the midi playback?

The more detail of exactly what you are doing will hopefully help us to isolate this problem.

If you could provide th exact steps you are using for recoding midi, that may prove helpful. Dont skip any step, no matter how trivial you think it is.

@Peter...

Going to try to do a Cam Studio Movie and post it on YouTube so you can see it live. You will be able to see the meters moving but Im not sure you will be able to hear the output unless I go via WDM drivers into the PC soundcard.

Let me see what I can do!
Thanks so much. If this can get fixed it would be a happy day!
