TM-900 Files in 1080/60p Mode

I recently purchase the Panasonic TM-900. When recording a long scene that I would have normally expected be saved in a file 8GB or larger appears to be saved in the camera's memory as multiple 4GB files. For myself, this is a problem because I have no control over when or where it splits the file other than stopping and starting the recording, I dropped the split files on to the timeline and attempted to merge the files together, but the audio volume drops out before the video on each file which causes you to trim the video back to where the audio ends which causes a bump in the video and audio where the two files come together, when played back. Ideally, I had expected the total scene to be in one file, import it, and then open the file in trimmer to select the portions that I wanted on the timeline. I may be missing a setting that I needs to be change, but so far I haven't found it. Any works of widsom will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The 4GB limit is a consequence of the file system used.

You probably had some bundled software to transfer your videos to a computer. My guess is that it will glue the bits back together again.

If not there are several video utility programs that should it for you. Another way is to use the DOS or command window Copy command with a /B (for binary) switch. For example:

COPY /B partfile1+partfile2+partfile3 fullfile

Post Script:

The bundled transfer software, if it exists, will probably only do its job if the source files and possibly some auxillary files are in their original location in the camera. If you first copy the source files to the computer and then try to use the software, it probably won't work.

The problem that you are having is not new with these cameras. There is a file size limit that splits them in to segments. When the clips are put on the time line of your editor, and merged together, and played back there are dropped frames at the beginning and at the end of the clips, which seems to be the problem you are having. There are two methods that avoid the splitting of clips with no drop outs, one is to use the software that comes with the camera (HD Writer) or using a Dos Batch Binery command.

If you follow the method in sticky thread 2 above, you can easily create hyperlinks.
