Subject:Acid Pro for Macintosh?

For years, I have been anxiously waiting for the day Sony creates a DAW version of Acid Pro for Mac OSX -- I was wondering if anyone knew if Sony has ever contemplated this kind of software compatibility...considering the uprising popularity of Apple products & their operating system? I have suggested this in the Product Suggestion in support many many times, but I'm not even sure if something like Acid Pro for Mac is even in demand...although I would seriously jump with excitement if this day ever came. Am I the only one? Logic Pro just isn't as loop-based, and Ableton just isn't as user friendly as Acid Pro! Any thoughts or comments, feel free to add. Thanks! |

Why is it that when people think of daw software on a Mac they don't think of anything else than Logic? There's Digital Performer which is quite the capable piece of software and a lot better (more stable and easier to use) than Logic. Seriously - if you want to do real daw work you may want to look at something other than Acid. Then of course there's always Fruity Loops (now called FL Studio). Jack |

And Reaper works well with mac although its development isn't as far along as the windows version. But if you want to use Acid, then I would install bootcamp on a partition of your mac's drive with XP SP3. For most mac users, this is a workable compromise. |

It would be great, cos you could pay over the top for hardware, for that warm smug ifeeling, and knowing that you must be being more creative (cos you're on a Mac). geoff - sorry, longtime macskeptic ;-) Message last edited on4/18/2011 8:36:11 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

I work on both platforms every day and for money verses productivity Mac is a no brainer. I do wish they made the Sony products for the Mac though because I love the way Vegas operates. That said. You could always use a product like Cubase which is cross platform. |

Actually, I do use Acid Pro 7 w/ my Windows 7 partition through Boot Camp. But it annoys me that I pay "over the top" for an Apple product, just to feel "more creative"...and yet, I'm still stuck using Windows, which automatically makes me less creative and less pretentious...right? Regardless, it takes away from my Mac, and defeats the purpose of my buying one in the first place. I just wish Sony would make it available for both Windows & Mac. From what I gather, Acid isn't as popular as other DAWs so I'm not sure if the demand will ever be high enough for Sony to consider a cross platform for Mac. But I guess Geoff is right. I do get that warm smug iFeeling...because my applications never crash & my laptop simply works :) Don't judge! |

[link]http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=product_customed&model_name=NP8170-S1 Install acid on it and throw your mac out the window ( may want to wait for the 3D version of that same model, coming out soon. Not necessarily because of 3D, but the screen itself is supposed to be pretty good ). I still have a 4 year old predecessor of that model. Hasn't crashed yet, not even once in 4 years. I run at 1ms latency with RME fireface with as many tracks as I like in Acid and Vegas. Message last edited on5/1/2011 2:24:47 AM bydeusx. |
