You could use the noise gate to remove anything in the silent parts. But you will always have the echo during the speaking parts. You could kind of remove parts of the reverb during the talking with EQ. Just sweep through until you find a good spot. |

The previously mentioned ideas are great. Start there! If you recorded in true stereo, try singling out one of the 2 channels (L or R). One might sound better. This is a good way to start, though using the noise gate might make the recording to quiet. Depending on the length of the recording, you might try SMOOTHING out the recording. Then, using simple FM generation, select Noise and choose a frequency and a dB level. Repeat the action through one of the channels, not both. Or- Record this to a separate track, then merge the two, if you can only use MONO in the end product. Adding noise may not be what you want, but try it. Tricking the human ear can be done! I would suggest select one channel -> past to new -> normalize, average -10, or -12 RMS - dynamic compression-> * - > Noise gate (use preview) -> select all -> paste to new stereo -> add noise to blank channel as above -> mix both channels... * You might want to try taking a noise print with NoiseReduction and see if it works. Another option might be to resample at a lower rate, or bit depth. Sometimes this can reduce an echo. ...Why add noise? It is sometimes undesirable to have perfectly quiet segments between the important sounds. It can sound "un-natural" as well as highlighting the imperfections in the recording. |
