Subject:ACID Pro 7 on Windows 7

I'm finally going to be building a new machine and the OS will be Windows 7 Professional. This is happening very soon now, so I'm wondering what people's experiences are running ACID Pro 7 on Windows 7.

I would wait on ACID Pro 8 if I had any idea when that was coming out and if it was sure to have Windows 7 64bit support, but who knows when that's coming out, so I have to go with AP7 for the time being.

Any major roadblocks or headaches? Work ok? Work great?

Thanks.

I'm using Acid 7 on Windows Ultimate 64 bit, though not very often. I haven't had any problems with the combination.

That's good news. I've been running very smoothly on XP for several years now, so I'm trying to properly prepare myself for any minor and major hurdles I may encounter moving over to W7.

Thanks.

The only thing I would look into is that all of you VST plugins are compatible with Win 7. We have encountered some plugins that will not install or don't play nice on win7 64.

Is this referring to any of the Sony plugins/Izotope plugins, or more toward general third party plugins? If you're talking about any of the default plugins, which ones?

Aside from what comes with Vegas/ACID/Sound Forge, I use very few third party plugins.

Thanks.

Third party. No particular ones, but older versions have caused problems because their installers did not recognize win7 as a valid OS.

I have more problem with the newer plugins like Nectar that Acid 7 can't cope with. More and more I'm thinking of switching to Reaper because that can give full functionality that Acid 7 can't. Is a 64 bit Acid ever likely to appear? Pointless question, I know, as no answer will be forthcoming.

That's good news that the Sony ones work fine. Do the Izotope ones that come with ACID and Sound Forge tend to work well on W7 as well?

My main third party plugins are IK Multimedia Classik Studio Reverb and Amplitube 3. As long as those are ok in AP7+W7 I should be good.

Thanks for your help Peter.

It would be great if a 64bit ACID Pro 8 came out of nowhere soon so I could take advantage of the 12 gigs of RAM I'm putting in when I'm working with EW Play, which is a resource hog, and Kontakt 4.
