Anyone got any Ideas as to why Sound Forge does not detect the Direct X plugins on my system? Direct X has been installed on the system and has been functional in the Sound forge 4.5 program, but now is no longer detecting the Direct X.

The system setup I have is as follows:-

CPU:
Intel PIII 700Mhz.

Motherboard:
Aopen UDMA33 Slot1 AGP/5PCI/2ISA

Memory:
128Mb PC100 Ram

Video Output:
ATI AGP Video card

Audio Output:
Soundscape 'Mixtreme' DSP FX PCI card

Hard Disks:
10.? GB Hdd - Make unknown - UDMA66
20.? GB Hdd - Make unknown - UDMA66

CD-ROM:
Creative 52X

CD-RW:
Creative 'burnproof' 12x burner

Floppy:
3.5" 1.44Mb

O/S:
Windows 98

Any help would be appreciated.

Run the DirectX diagnostic tool by going to the DirectX folder in your Program Files directory and clicking on the Black and yellow daig tool icon.

You could upgrade your DirecX to 8.0a. Your version could be out of date with some new software or hardware you may have installed. If you install games on your PC they can change everything!

Did you install any new hardware or upgrade anything recently before this happened?

Is the problem that Sound Forge isn't detecting *any* DX Plug-Ins anymore? Are they all our plug-ins? 3rd party?

If everything else on the system works, you may just need to remove and reinstall your DirectX plug-ins to refresh their listing in the Windows registry.

Bingo.....! 9 Months ago, a friend bought a PC Game with him and the program was installed on the Hard disk BUT the game ROM needs to be installed in the CDRom to play and uninstall... Wiil look into an alternative way of uninstalling the redundant files and see if it helps.

The 'Whole' Direct X menu does not show at all, and yup Direct X is installed, I have looked at it with a tool from analog X as well as opening the Direct X directory. I have a feeling that the problem might be in the system Registry... She, the one who is all knowing and wise did un-install an older version of the Soundforge program and never told me... Wimmin eh!

Will re-install the newer program when I can get access to MY PC!

I corrected the DirectX issue by nstalling the DirextX8.0a from the Microsoft update site, the problem was due to DirectX being tied up with another application, namely a Game that had recently installed on the system.
