OT: This forum needs a ranking system.

Doesn't it even remotely bother the people that spend so much time on this wonderful forum that there is no ranking system? I mean, other forums take you all the up to something like a "Guru" or what not. At least there could be a post count. Day cound? year count?

I am sure a profile pic would be far to much to ask, but you know this is sonyCREATIVEsoftware.com you'd think they'd come up with something creative to make this more fun.

Am I the only one that thinks this?? Maybe we should vote.

No, it does not bother me that there is no "ranking" on the forum posts. Frankly, I find such bloglike features annoying.

I'm a member on a number of forums (mostly for one of my other hobbies) and if there's anything I've learned in the past it's that frequency of posting is no indication of experience or knowledge. On one particular forum, a new member had as many posts in his first week as I had in the previous year - most of his were within a single thread that went on for several pages.

I've been perusing this forum for a couple of years or so and found that it didn't take long to figure out who the people are that know what they're talking about (and no, I don't place myself in that category!).

I don't think a ranking system would help me either.

The one thing I do miss however, compared with other forums, is the ability to subscribe or follow a topic and get an email whenever it is updated.

In some other forums with a ranking system they seem to be more keen on getting the feed-back credits to their own ranking than to give the best answer.

So IMHO: no ranking system here, please.

It was just make it a tad more fun to have a little nickname under your username. But uh, maybe I am the only one young enough here to be looking for goofy like fun (no offense to any Senior Citizenze).

Seriously, I love you guys. I would be so lost in Vegas with out this place. I am always surprised by how helpful and kind you guys are.

Let me ask one more time.... Is there anything that anyone would like to see change or added on this forum?? Maybe it's just that I would like to imagine that someday when I am as old as all of you it would read "ice: Vegas Video Guru" or something. LOL.

I like the clean look and have been pleased that there are not dozens of flashing ads or blinking tips....... Now if you could select and chose which features you wanted...... then everyone could customize their "view" of the forum, ... that would be "cool","neat","sweet spot" or whatever is the current terminology. :-) But I like it "as is".

I have been a Vegas (even before Sony bought SF) user for many years and
have posted who knows how many times.

The ranking of information I have submitted is recognized by the simple
"thank you". Not by some counter of posts.

So, thanks to all that have helped me over the years!

Okay, I've added photos of a middle-aged-fart to the thread linked above.

I'm all for a preview button, for I tried five different codes in assorted formats and could not embed my photos.

As for the little nicknames under one's name and ranking systems: one of the forums of which I am a member has a ranking system and one of the members must have felt a bit miffed when another member's status had changed, for he started responding to every single post. Most of his posts were short and meaningless, something to the effect of 'yes, I agree' or 'I've read that this is true'. The most offending posts were in response to someone posting a question to the whole forum, and his response would be 'I don't know, as I have no experience with those'. Great. His ranking eventually changed.

If we're going to have a cute little nickname under our usernames, mine should be
'what does this button do?'
