How about we share some tips and tweaks?! Learn some, leave some, be cool, dudes and dudettes! Last night I ran a 5 minute drum track, rendered it, took it over to N-Tracks, added 9 more stereo synth tracks with plugs, mixed it down, took the resultant 2 track over to Sound Forge and tweaked it a bit, took it back to Acid and added some cool embellishments. I've also run an 8 track midi file in, recorded an audio version of it running through my Alesis QS7, added the voice and guitars, put some loop stuff on it, rendered it , and then mastered it. I've just had Acid 3 for a little while and I'm in love with it! I love mixing it in with my other techniques. What weird and perverse things do you guys do with it? |

I just thought of another idea. Take a loop off of one of the cd's or whatever, take it to Sound Forge and tweak it with plugs and stuff. Save it under a new name. Now you have a new loop and you won't have to run real time plugs on it in Acid 3, saving CPU power! You can run it with the original plug and mix the two or seperate as sort of an response echo effect. You could run any number of tracks with the same loop tweaked in different ways. |

I have used variations on that technique, but it can be problematic. Applying any time-based effect can slightly change the length of the loop and throw out your rhythm. Additionally, mixing the original loop with the processed one usually results in some phasing effects that may not be desirable (if you weren't planning on running everything through a flanger). |

You can also do this without leaving Acid by using the "Render to New Track" command in the tools menu. If you have lots of plug-ins on one track or a series of tracks, just solo those tracks and use the "Render to New Track" function. The keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+M. Ted |
