File names in track names...

I have also posted this in the scripting section as well. I am looking for a way to automatically name the track with the name of the file. it makes sense to me. either way you gotta name the track, so if when you throw a .wav file onto a track (or any file for that matter), the track automatically takes the name of the file you put on that particular track.

anyone got any ideas?

Since tracks can (and do) support many events, which in turn represent many different files, I can see no practical use or implementation of your idea, except perhaps in a very limited workflow.

I agree!

If you are using vegas for mixing an album, and you're working with 25-30 tracks of audio, you currently need to name every single track. what i'm saying is, the moment you open up track 5, in the space where you can name track 5, the file name automatically is put in this spot. how is that very limited workflow, when something is automatically being named for you?

Just be be clear, putting only one event (file) per track is a very limited workflow.

How would your scheme work if for say, I put TWO events on one track??

A typical audio or video track in a Vegas project can contain hundreds of discrete events. Which of those filenames do you presume should automatically show up on my track labels? All of them? Really, I just don't get what you're asking.

There is a handy feature in Vegas that displays the active take (file) name in the events themselves. View->Active Take Information

How do I show the "event" names on the "event"?

Go to View Menu & select 'Active Take Information'
