Subject: "save as" function designates .wav files as .tiff

I just upgraded to Sound Forge Pro 10.0c onto a Windows 7 64bit new machine. The "save as" function creates a file designated as .tiff even though .tiff is not one of the choices to save as. The files will still open and function after they are saved by the "save as". I have'nt gone far enough yet to find what else this might mean. Has anyone any suggestions?

Phil

Aiff, or tiff? Tiff is a graphic format (mainly used for faxes) and not an audio type of file.

Yeah, probably .aif (Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF) more commonly used on Apple Macintosh computer systems.) Similar to the Windows Wave audio file format, both are PCM and non-compressed.
In any case, select your preferred format from the "Save or Save as file type" dialog menu.

We've seen this issue in the past when users have used programs like Laplink's PC Mover to move OS installs (with apps) from one machine to another, generally when they're moving from one OS to another. (IE: WinXP to Win7x64.) I'd generally advise against that sort of workflow.

A clean OS reinstall fixes the problem. Alternatively, you could try contacting Laplink's support department to see if they offer some kind of workaround.
