Greetings, This is my first time on this forum and I was hoping that someone good tell me if SF 5.0 is compatabile with NT 4.0. The info on SF 5.0's product box says it is for use with Win 98, ME & 2000. I know 2000 is built on NT technology but that doesn't always mean thingsd are compatable. I'm currently running SF 4.5 on NT 4.0 Serivice Pack 5. Hope someone out there can help. Thanks! |

Ummmm...compatible? Seems to be. Supported? No. I have found it does install and run on NT4 Workstation with SP6a (I don't know about Server versions). I have done this, and it runs fine. A bit slow to boot up (PII-400, 128 MB RAM), but it does the job. I know NT4 is not an officially supported platform as NT does not support above DirectX 3, but I have run it without a problem. The DirectX plugins seem to work fine. If you do install, just know that SF will not assist you if you have problems since it's not a supported platform. You can always download the demo and try it out to see if it fits your needs. |

Kryten, Thanks for the interesting insight on your experience SF 5.0 & NT 4.0 SP6. I have another computer that's running Windows 98SE, I guess I'll be using it in there until I either switch my Video System to Win 2000 or until Sonic Foundry makes SF5.0 100% compatable with NT 4.0. Thanks again for the reply. Jim |
