Do you need to buy a support plan to get email tech support, or only for phone?

I never had to buy a plan to contact support via email.

online tech support is a joke. it took them a week to respond to me first they send you an auto response of possible things to try. then tech support tells me the same things. when non worked they dissappeared. the forum is was WAY more helpful and fixed my problem

To be fair, when I had a problem with Vegas Movie Studio's video capture utility, Sony Creative was pretty helpful and even then it wasn't their fault.
