Based on past releases they alternate between IBC and NAB. NAB was the last release and that was last year at NAB, so I am expecting to see a new one around the time frame of IBC this year (probably about 6-8 months out?). That's only if they hold true to their cycle, and nothing changes, but for all I know they could release again at NAB or some entirely different event.

At NAB last year, they were showing a newer release of Vegas Pro 9. Vegas Pro 10 was released at IBC last fall...

Jeff, your post triggered a memory flag for me. Looks like you've already answered your own question, back in August.

Wait for 10d because 10c sucks but try the demo and answer your own question.
I'm about to drop Vegas all together if things don't improve. The loss of MB, no updates for Boris, barely support from Prodad is some serious writing on the wall.

However, mpg 4 rendering has improved in 10c.

Dreamline, I'd really like to help you out. Which way did you come in?

Hi, to everyone. I just started using Vegas and wanted to say hello to everyone on these forums. I find Vegas to be a great editing program. It is very intuitive.

Right now I am learning the program from 3 DVDs from Vasst called Absolute Training. They are very good. Thank you Vasst team for making the learning of vegas that easy. You all did a great job.
Douglas Spotted Eagle is a fantastic teacher and has helped me greatly.

The notion that the application exists to serve the plugins, rather than the other way around, is well . . . ridiculous.

Shall we take up a collection to buy him a copy of Premiere? (Of course, if he doesn't fix his computer, Premiere will crash as well).

"At NAB last year, they were showing a newer release of Vegas Pro 9. Vegas Pro 10 was released at IBC last fall... "

My mistake you are correct. So based on my estimates, then it would be a year from NAB give or take.

That's my best guess, but again, it's a total shot in the dark based on previous releases, nothing more.

Regarding the next release; those that know can't say, those that say don't know.
Wolfgang S. wrote on 3/16/2011, 2:46 AM
Yes, that is exact the point: people are not allowed to say something if they know.

My question would be more: what should be incorported in Vegas, to avoid that people like Deamline drop Vegas at all? What is the loss of MB?

" to avoid that people like Deamline drop Vegas at all? What is the loss of MB?"

The more relevant question would be what is the loss of Dreamline?
birdcat wrote on 3/16/2011, 7:55 AM
MB = Magic Bullet (Movie Looks - came as a freebie with Vegas+DVD 6 if I remember correctly)

I too am waiting for a "I need that" moment to move from Pro 8 to a newer version.

Less moaning, whining and complaining.

What would be nice (and no, I have no inside information) would be if the regulars here who seem to run into the real issues were included in the beta test team. I have no idea how many folks are in the beta test, but there are quite a few here that would make very good additions to that team.

I am certain that Sony has no shortage of people wanting to be beta testers. Although it's pretty obvious who a few of them are, all of them are bound by a NDA. And all of them are good people, who are at least as likely to catch a mistake as anyone else. With Sony's can of worms, I think releasing open betas would be a mistake.

I haven't figured out the 22 million ways to operate Vegas 10C yet.

... and also because many of the usual - hmmm - immediately would rely on this beta for their usual multi $$$$ project from the usual HUGE customer and with the usual deadline tomorrow - and - yeah - you know the rest :- )

Sort of OT - speaking of testers - has anyone heard from, or about Douglas Spotted Eagle in a while now? He seems to have dropped off the map, so to speak. I miss his frequent posts in our Vegas forum! I know he finished a book a while ago . . .

thanks,

Will

Douglas Spotted Eagle is a man of many talons (pun intended) I was browsing MP3Panda.com the other day for some ambient music and saw some music by Douglas Spotted Eagle :))

Re: Vegas Pro 11 release, keep an eye on the Vegas Studio Forum because they usually get the upgrade before Pro.

10C has been working fine for me.

Dreamline, I'm sorry, I don't agree with you. For me, V. 10.0c is a GOOD version. It is stable enough and has a lot of improvements over previous ones.

First of all, H264 codec is three or even four times FASTER than before, and it doesn't hang with multiple clips. Right now, I'm working with Canon EOS 5D mark II footage and, believe me, it's a lot of fun, given the unrivaled, astonishing video quality this camera has.

Second point, it supports OFX filter standard. This is important, since this is THE filter and video FX standard used in the movie industry (The Foundry Nuke supports it, for example) and it can give Vegas more compatibility with third part plugins, like for example BCC 7.

It also gives support for sterescopy, image stabilization (very nice!!!), improved support for subtitles and closed caption. So I don't think it sucks...

What I'd like to see in future versions is GPU support, since it could really bring Vegas to a new dimension. Depending on the GPU you have, editing can speed up to 5-10 times, and even more. In my opinion this is a MUST have feature (keeping software compatibility).

Bye.
