Vegas10 "stopped working" ????

HELP! Vegas10 used to open but one day it just stopped right after the "creating Windows "appeared. Then Win7 pops up an error message asking to check online for a solution and close or just close! Anyone else had this proble?
I have re-installed and the same thing happens. Don't want to waste a bunch of activations!
I have not installed Win7 Service Pack 1 because it messes with Windows Home Server's data transfer rate...gets REAL slow.

Your system specs say you're using XP with "above 1GB" ram. Maybe give us your updated specs?

Kind of a long shot, but I ran into this one a while back -- you don't by chance have a PicKit2 programmer plugged into the USB port do you (used for programming PIC microprocessors). It has some sort of issue (without my coffee, I don't remember the exact details ... ) that manages to screw up something to do with the Direct X stuff and both Vegas 9 and 10 would make it almost to the end of the init then hang with a message about "has stopped working". Took a while to track that one down :-)
Here was my original post on the subject when I tracked it down:

Yes, I have had this problem and posted as such.

I was accused of having "games" on my machine, and/or that my machine was a POS and that the company that made it didn't know WTF they were doing..mostly by one person who compared his situation on a mature XPSP3-32bit machine and application with my W7-Pro-64bit system with a brand new version of Vegas PRO.

However, after getting no help at all, I did a clean un-install/re-install of 10c, as well as updating to W7 SP1, and it seemed to do wonders for whatever reason. No slow downs at all over here and only one incidence of "Vegas has stopped working" since then.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

If you go back and re-read the post, I was speaking in general terms. I did not ever say that you had games installed.

How do you know? Did you try to install SP1?

From another thread:
"Got my problem solved. I was also having problems installing the Windows 7 SP1. I downloaded a Windows 7 SP1 ready program. I suppose this fixed some windows problems. After upgrading to SP1, my Vegas 9.0 started working again. Yeah!!"
