OT: Visionlab Studios

Is anyone using VisionLab Studios? I currently have nothing like this or AE in my tool set of programs and am curious to getting acquainted with such.

Any thoughts. For lower end / smaller budget applications, is it good value?

I know Affter Effects and all its additional plug ins can do some amazing stuff (with the time invested).

Thanks,
Chad

Never heard of them.
I can't afford either the price of AE, nor the hugely steep learning curve, so I bought BCC-7.

You can't afford the price of AE but purchased BCC-7? Right now, AE is $639 at Amazon, and BCC is usually $995 ($595 on sale here and there). Fairly comparable, no?

I do agree with the "steep learning curve" issue, though.

If you attend one of the BorisFX webinars there may be a discount code at the end. That's how I got mine for about half the price of AE.

FXhome's Visionlab is an excellevt piece of software in the AE style. They are both good programs, but visionlab is a little easier to learn. Be forewarned though that it does not include motion tracking so it is difficult to do some more complex pieces.

It is really good for muzzle flashes, mattes, keying, lightsabers, etc. They also have a bunch of free plugins that go with the program.

If you can find AE for cheaper buy that instead. However, if you can't, Visionlab is a great substitute. I think FXhome is doing a sale on it as we speak. give it a look at FXhome.com
