Okay, this is probably a really dumb question, but here it goes. I want to use my Yamaha keyboard to record MIDI tracks/loops in Acid Pro 3.0. When I click the record button and choose "MIDI" I can't figure out how to change it from the piano voice. I can select another voice on my keyboard, but when it starts recording it always goes back to the piano. I know how to change it after I have recorded, but how do you change the voice for your initial recording? Please help... this is driving me nuts! Thanks, Steve |

You can't. ACID records everything that is comming in during the recording. It does not record anything prior to this, so your patch changes are not recorded. Since the recorded file has no patch information recorded into it - unless you send a program change during recording - ACID assumes program change 0, which is the GM piano patch. Two solutions: 1. Change the voicing in the MIDI track properties page. 2. Edit the recorded MIDI file in an external MIDI editor and add the program change you desire. Peter |

That's what I was afraid of. It's too bad you can't create a MIDI track first with out recording anything into it, so you can change the patches before actually recording. This would be very useful. Are there any plans to implement such a feature in Acid in the future? Thanks for the response. Steve |

Cyberbeat, I had the same problem with my Alesis QS7. I got into the manual and found out how to make the synth ignore program change information. I never use it anyway. |
