Subject:SF 9.0 Upgrade: Registry Question

Hey,
New here. Just upgraded from SF 8.0d to SF 9.0 (both are legitimate) and everything appears to be fine, but I noticed my registry displays some disconcerting info:
In the Sound Forge/9.0/License directory, the Current Key setting displays the appropriate serial number, but then displays six sets of 9 characters each, separated by a hyphen. No such format apears in the SF 8.0 registry. The only time I have seen things like this in the past was when someone used cracked software, but I am certain I have the full retail versions with all packaging and documentation. To the best of my knowledge, I have never used cracks of anything.
Any idea if this could cause a problem (i.e. corrupted registry)? And if so, any ideas on how to repair it?
Thanks!

I'm not sure why you ask if you are certain, as you state, that the software is legitimate; legitimate software can be registered correctly in the "My Account" section of this website, and I imagine any concerns about legitimacy should be directed to SCS.

Did the software install correctly?
Did it register correctly?
Is it functioning correctly?
Did you purchase it from Sony? Guess not, because the current upgrade version is 10.
How would you know anything about appended registry strings in cracked software anyway?

This is a peer support forum. Registration issues should be directed to Sony Customer Service.

If anybody here had bothered to actually look at their registry to see what's going on (as I did) instead of posting what they did they would have seen that what you're asking about is normal. I just looked at my registry (I did the upgrade dance from 7 then to 8 and then on to 9 like you did but eliminated previous versions of SF) and found the exact same thing in that registry key as you found. Nothing to worry about. You're legit and cool to go. I never upgraded to SF10 as it doesn't have enough in it for me to do so.

Don't know why this happens in SF as I just checked my Acid Pro 5 & 6 keys and they're just the serial number.

Thanks so much for checking this out and for getting back to me. I am sorry for posting the question here but I was getting no response from SCS and this was my next stop.

The software was purchased from a third party but was sealed and it installed and registered just fine. I always check the registry of any software installed, especially if purchased from a third party, just to be safe.
The reason I know about cracked software causing registry problems is that I am in IT and have seen others hose their systems and then come to me for help. Any time I saw this kind of thing, it always led back to illegitimate software.

Thanks again jackn2mpu for your confirmation that all is well!
