Considering how old most of us are on this forum, there is probably 2,000 years of experience between us...

and with some of my clients i feel like i'm 2000.......

I agree 100% with Grazie.

I read the entire thread a few days ago. I only wish I could comprehend what the heck it is about.

I am always in awe of and in debt to the Gurus on this Forum!

I agree. It's a splendid forum and people are so willing to share their knowledfge on even the most complex of issues. Thank you to all. (And Grazie, you've helped a lot of people as well so thank you to you also).

As a confirmed measurabator I'm less and less certain if any of it matters all that much.
Last year we shot a 9 hour event with two cameras. Cut it in Vegas and uploaded the bits the client thought worth putting on YouTube at 720p. All things considered I thought it looked pretty darn good but could have been better, maybe next year a couple of more EX1s would have helped.
Anyway I send the whole event on DVD to the client and guess what. He gets someone to rip the DVDs and upload all of it to their own YouTube channel, they didn't have one before so I'd uploaded my clips to my channel so they could link to them from their site. The genius someone hasn't even bothered to de-interlace the footage from the DVDs, it's only 240p AND encoded at some seriously low bitrate. Needless to say it looks like shite on a stick, the only things going for it are the levels are correct. There's serious interlace artifacts and it's as soft as cotton wool. Thing is they think it's OK, yeah gods :(

Bob.

[edit] Didn't mean to derail this thread, just needed to get that off my chest. I feel better now :)

I'm been too busy really to enjoy this forum with "other" design and engineering issues BUT I do agree with Grazie! Reading the youtube posting was interesting and made me think how much I enjoyed vegas, editing, post and 3D work! Its really exciting to see knowledge and experimentation at work here vs. political postings.

OT are interesting but it is great to see many of bright VEGAS Users minds focus on refining production issues!

I also am in awe of all the people on this forum and the Vegas programmers. I could just see the head guy addressing the programmers saying "Ok, lets expand Vegas Pro to do 3D". And I can visualize the programmer saying to himself "Who the hell knows how to do 3D in order to tell me how to do it?.

Does that make us in aggregate, the 2000 year old man?

Yeah, oldies are long winded and think a lot of themselves. I totally agree. They pat each other on the back but in reality are patting themselves on the back. Pretty transparent. Sooner or later they are completely out of reality wondering where are all the clients & posting threads analyzing minutia to gratify their egos.

Meanwhile in reality most of the young vegas users are leaving and going to better software and making a ton of money. I'm not in awe at all.

Wondering where the clients have gone...?
I guess I've been way too busy turning out projects for my clients (using Vegas), to wonder about that.

I'm very happy with Vegas! The money I make from Vegas subsidizes my scuba endeavors 6-months out of every year. Otherwise I would have to have a real job sitting in an office and squinting at work papers : (

yep, totally agree 100%.... and i'm over 60;

a. long winded - takes for ever to explain the simplest concept to a mindless wannabe

b. while i may not think a lot of myself, i should do cause people pay me upwards of $150 an hour to listen to my long windedness.

c. you should find yourself some friends on facebook and perhaps invest in a serious nle, like mm2.

and that, my friend, was pretty succinct for a long winded old fart....

Dreamline,
When you're old, instead of young, how are you going to feel about the comments you just made?

Will you escape or meet your own expectations of yourself?

Perfectionism can be a curse. I showed my girlfriend a few of the rendered files on that thread and she just laughed at me and said they all look the same lol. Anyway I enjoyed the exercise and learned a lot in the process, and I'm glad some of you are finding it interesting. Not quite done with it yet. A couple more posts from me then I'll start a new thread with my tutorial.

Dreamline, I'm interested to know what "better software" most of the young vegas users are going to.

On the lighter side, "I want you to know that also I will not make age an issue of this debate. I am not going to exploit my opponent's youth and inexperience." With apologies to Ronald Reagan.

Making a ton of money? Are we video editing or selling coke or maybe we are just dreaming along those lines
