Subject:Volume for recording

I´m still iniciating on Soundforge. I´m recording drums and will record later bass, guitar and vocals to later mix them in cakewalk or pro tools. What is the ideal volume for recording drums, so that I can treat them (got some snaps - not messing around with effects) so that I can record without distorting?

You can go all the way to 0.0 without distorting. You'll probably want to leave yourself some headroom, so it would probably be best to keep your levels somewhere between 0.0 and -6dB.
