Anyone have experience with both of these? If so, I'd love to hear which one you prefer for editing DV. Vegas Video (as everyone knows, I'm sure) is insanely marked down at Best Buy, and I'm curious as to whether or not it's worth buying...
The (I'm guessing) Vegas is marked down at the moment is to increase sales of Vegas 2 before the release of Vegas 3 in this fall. Vegas 2 is a cracking product, although I only use it for audio, I know people who use it for video and are very impressed by it.
Vegas is without doubt a hot product. However, Premiere is a better developed piece of software. Sonic Foundry's interface is, in my opion the best i've used between the two. Premiere is better when it comes to having plug-in and a list of other things. One thing that really drives my bus about VV is its lack to control the video layers more. In Premiere you can tilt and slant you video image and even keyframe these movments, this is not so in VV. The truth of the matter is that you should use both programs to edit. I know its a real pain but they both lack somethings that the other has. I was told from someone who knows Premiere inside out that using VV has made them change it (VV) to their main program for editing. Its mine as well.
If I use both of them, however, won't I end up recompressing the video-- hence a loss of resolution?
Vegas has a LOT of things going for it-- opening Sound Forge directly in Vegas, & I LOVE the Acid-style interface (especially for things like looping)... but I'm worried about re-compressing the video if I shift back and forth.
GG I'm not sure what your talking about with the velocity enevelopes key frames thing. Vegas Is Hot like i stated before, but the fact of not being able to have the video screen follow a motion path, is weak. And it puts a limit on ones creativity. I would like to hear the 100 other reasons thought.
