Recorded sound directly into SF10c using computer line in. Occasionally and noticably the sound goes down then comes back up.

More likely an issue with your sound card. This is unheard of with the software.
Are your levels properly adjusted? Is their limiting or AGC at the input stage?
More information starting with system specs would be necessary in order to help you troubleshoot your problem.
